Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday took a dig at Akhilesh Yadav and his Samajwadi Party over the gruesome killing of Umesh Pal in Prayagraj, a key witness in the murder case of BSP MLA Raju Pal, as he vowed to raze such mafias to the ground.
The UP government would have zero tolerance approach towards crime and mafia. "Mafia ko mitti mein mila denge (He will raze the mafia to the ground)," CM Yogi said in the state assembly while condemning the killing of Pala.
“Atique Ahmed, the criminal who committed the crime, was not brought up by the Samajwadi Party? Was he not a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Samajwadi Party?” asked Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. "These people are patrons of the professional mafia," Adityanath added.
"The mafia who did this act is absconding from the state today, whoever it is, our government will not allow a 'mafia paradise' to prevail in the state," the CM said. Pal was attacked with crude bombs and shot dead outside his home on Friday night. Two of his gunners were also injured in the attack.
Both shooters were deployed in Pal's security by the government. One of the shooters, Sandeep Nishad, succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
The prime accused in Raju Pal's murder is mafia politician Atiq Ahmed, who is currently lodged in a Gujarat jail.
